Election Day sail
« on: November 06, 2012, 11:59:45 PM »
Today Bill and I went to Cedar Island.   We had NNW wind around 15-20+ knots.  I sailed 5.3 on 85L Bill 6.2 on 96, powered most of the time.  Real nice waves that built throughout the day, thigh to chest high with a few bigger sets. Wind was side on and hard to get out at first but once tide started going out and wind turned more west, it cleaned up and was easier to get out.  Once outside catching rides was easy, especially coming in toward ferry boat jetty.  This is an amazing sound launch with ocean like swell but its shallow and with onshore wind, very safe.  You don't waste a lot of energy swimming around in the impact zone, just stand up, position sail and beach start! Great day but a bit cold air and water maybe 58, started raining almost right when we got on water and light rain most of the day.  Raw weather but the windsurfing was top notch.
